It’s time to give thanks, y’all.

As of today, this blog has reached 100 posts and 10,000 blog views (which to some of you might be small pickings but to me that’s mountainous, so just nod and smile knowingly please.). And let me just say, WOW! Wow wow wow wow wow. I never thought I would make it this far when my fifteen year old self sat down and thought “hey, I like to write, I think I’ll start a blog”.

I have so many people to thank. So let’s start the party by tipping our hats to the many and the mighty who have inspired me along the way:

A huge thank you to the fellow writers who have inspired me along this journey: Hannah BrencherLauren and Max DubinskyHilary SherrattSarah BesseyAnn Voskamp, and last but not least, Shauna Niequist. Your words stirred the pot and dared me to lick the spoon. We may not have each other on speed dial or make coffee dates a regular occurrence but you will always be kindred spirits.

To my parents: you have always respected my desire to be transparent through my writing, even if my statements don’t quite agree with you. Thank you for giving me the space to write truthfully about the way I see my world. That will not be forgotten.

To the people who have made guest appearances in my tales, the people that I do life with, get coffee with, inspire me and give me things to think about: you know who you are. I can’t name all of you but so many of you have put the words in my brain that came out on the keyboard at one time or another. Thank you.

Kim, Allie, Elisa, Kelly, Sarah: your encouragement and passion for me amazes me and blows me away. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love doing life with each of you.

Doug: the best brother I ever could have asked for. Thank you for letting me write about you and rave about you and yell at you and bang my head against the wall (and stopping me before I killed most of my brain cells). Thank you for sharing your forever inquisitive, trusting heart with me and the world. Thank you for reminding me how to laugh when I forget. My kids will get sick of hearing about you.

Justin: thank you for telling me from day one that you would never put limits on what I could write about. Thank you for loving me so well, every day, without fail and with so much determination that I wondered if I really deserved you at all. You make me laugh, you make me blush, you make me think. Thanks for challenging me and giving me a run for my money. You’re wonderful.

Katrina: my soul sister, my kindred spirit, my partner in crime. So many of these posts originated at midnight on one of our beds or the big green couch, thinking out loud. I couldn’t have done any of this without you as my sounding board. Thank you for being the best friend I have ever had- your friendship has permanently changed my life. I love you more than words can say.

And, last but not least, thank you God. It’s been one heck of a ride and I don’t know where we’re headed, but thank you for making this possible. I owe you my life.
